Configure how you want to install Windows updates while RestoreX360 is protecting the system.

Turn off automatic Windows update

If you use RestoreX360 to restore computer frequently, you might want to turn off automatic Windows update so the system will not repeatedly install the same updates every time after a restore.

Manually install Windows updates

If you turn off automatic Windows update, you can manually install Windows update at any time.

You can select to “only install critical updates” or “install all updates“.

Turn on automatic Windows update

If you decide to turn on automatic Windows update, you must choose which type of Windows update you want to install.

enlightenedThere are two type of Windows updates: Minor update that patches Windows O.S. and applications; Major update, such as Windows 10 Creator Update, that makes a complete change to the OS including partition tables and file system. The download size of major updates are about 4GB. Back in the old days, these are called Windows Upgrades (new version of Windows).

Installation of minor updates does not affect RestoreX360 snapshots

Installation of major updates will remove all existing RestoreX360 snapshots because changes to hard drive’s partition tables and bootloader.
