1.4. Use Fix Tools

Start Fix Tools
To start Fix Tools:
1. Insert the bootable USB stick created earlier into your computer.
2. Enter your BIOS/UEFI settings and set the USB stick as the primary boot device.
3. Save changes and reboot your system.
Fix Tools will start automatically once the computer boots from the USB stick.

Decrypt Partition(s)
RestoreX360 encrypts the partitions it protects to prevent unauthorized access to snapshot data. You must decrypt these partitions to access the protected drives.
Steps to Decrypt:
1. Boot your computer from the Fix Tools USB. The tool will launch automatically.
2. Click the "Decrypt" button.
3. Once decrypted, you can access the protected partitions by clicking the "Browse" button. You can now run other utilities as needed.

Snapshot Scavenger
Use Snapshot Scavenger to recover data if:
  • You accidentally uninstalled RestoreX360 to the baseline snapshot.
  • You deleted a snapshot containing important data.
  • A snapshot has become corrupted.
Note: If RestoreX360 is still installed, you do not need to decrypt partitions before using Snapshot Scavenger.

Steps to Use Snapshot Scavenger:
1. Boot from the Fix Tools USB. The Fix Tools interface will load automatically.
2. Click "Open" next to Snapshot Scavenger to launch it.
3. Click "Browse" and locate the file Shield.dat or Shield.dat.bak in the RestoreX360 installation folder (e.g., C:\Program Files\Shield).
4. A list of available snapshots will appear in the Snapshot Information window.
5. Select a snapshot that may contain the files you want to recover, then click "Explore Snapshot".
  • Snapshot Scavenger will mount the snapshot as a virtual drive.
    6. Open "This PC" from the desktop to browse the mounted virtual drive(s).
    7. To close the mounted snapshot and explore another, click "Dismount Snapshot".

Restore MBR Backup
When RestoreX360 is installed, it automatically creates a backup of the system's original Master Boot Record (MBR) before making changes.
If needed, you can restore this original MBR using Fix Tools. (Note: The actual steps for restoring the MBR are not provided in your text. Please provide them if you’d like me to include this section fully.)

Here is a fully revised and properly formatted version of your instructions for restoring various system backups using Fix Tools, including the Master Boot Record (MBR), Boot Configuration Data (BCD), EFI Bootloaders, and the Windows Registry. I also included a clean summary for updating the Pre-OS Recovery Console.

Advanced Recovery Options Using Fix Tools
Fix Tools provides several advanced recovery features that can help resolve boot issues caused by changes made during the installation or removal of RestoreX360.

Restore MBR Backup
RestoreX360 creates a backup of the system’s original Master Boot Record (MBR) before making any changes. You can use Fix Tools to restore this MBR backup if needed.
Steps:
1. Boot the computer using the Fix Tools USB. Fix Tools will launch automatically.
2. Click the "Browse" button next to Restore MBR Backup.
3. Select the Shield.dat or Shield.dat.bak file from the RestoreX360 installation folder (e.g., C:\Program Files\Shield).
4. The original MBR contained within the Shield file will be restored.

Restore BCD Backup
RestoreX360 also backs up the Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) during setup. If your system fails to boot after installing or uninstalling RestoreX360, restoring the BCD may resolve the issue.
Steps:
1. Boot the computer using the Fix Tools USB. Fix Tools will launch automatically.
2. Click the "Browse" button next to Restore BCD Backup.
3. Navigate to and select the Windows directory (where the BCD backup is located).
4. Choose the correct BCD partition—usually the system partition—to restore the BCD backup.

Restore EFI Backup (UEFI Systems Only)
For systems using UEFI BIOS, RestoreX360 backs up the EFI bootloaders before making modifications. If the system is unable to boot into Windows, restoring both the EFI and BCD backups may be necessary.
Steps:
1. Boot the computer using the Fix Tools USB. Fix Tools will launch automatically.
2. Click the "Browse" button next to Restore EFI Backup.
3. Navigate to the system’s Windows directory (where the EFI backup is stored).
4. Select the system boot partition to restore the EFI boot files.

Restore Windows Registry Backup
RestoreX360 setup also creates a backup of the Windows registry. If your system fails to start even after restoring the MBR, BCD, and EFI, restoring the registry backup may help resolve the issue.
Steps:
1. Boot the computer using the Fix Tools USB. Fix Tools will launch automatically.
2. Click the "Browse" button next to Restore Registry Backup.
3. Navigate to the system’s Windows directory (where the registry backup is located).
4. The registry backup will be restored automatically.

Update Pre-OS Recovery Console
Fix Tools can also be used to upgrade the RestoreX360 Pre-OS Recovery Console. If an upgrade is necessary, UQuick Technologies India Limited Technical Support will provide the required files and specific instructions.
Note: Only perform this step if instructed by support.
