“Update MBR failed” during the setup of Baseline Shield

Problem

You get the error message “Update MBR failed” during the setup of Baseline Shield.
 

Cause

Baseline Shield setup needs to update the computer’s MBR, some programs such as anti-virus or drive encryption software could be preventing Baseline Shield to update the MBR.
 

Solution

Check for software on your computer that could prevent Baseline Shield from updating the MBR, such as Anti-Virus software or drive encryption software. Disable the anti-virus software before setup Baseline Shield and re-enable it after setup.
